When we opened V5 Beta access to applications, we did not expect interest on this scale. Hundreds of applications arrived in the first five days. Thank you for the time you spent on them and for what you wrote.
We read every application
We are not lining applications up by arrival and approving them automatically. In each one we read which modules you use, which integrations you depend on and what you would like to try in this build. The reason is simple: a beta is only as useful as the variety of the installations taking part. Fifty installations that resemble one another tell us far less than installations running at different scales, with different module sets and different workflows.
Activations begin shortly
We are opening access in groups rather than all at once. The first group is activated shortly, and the groups after it follow as we work through the feedback that comes back. That is also why we are not naming a date: any date we gave would depend on what the group ahead of it shows us.
When your application is approved
We will write to the email address on your application. The download link and everything you need to get started will be in that email, and there is nothing else for you to do. If it has not arrived yet, your application has not been dropped; its turn has simply not come.
Do not run the beta on your live installation
Once your access is in place, we recommend trying the beta in a test environment. A beta is an evaluation build; if you prefer to run it on your live system, take a full backup of your files and database first. If you run into a problem, opening a support ticket is enough. A screenshot, your browser details and the steps you followed to reproduce it let us take the matter straight to the development side.
If you have not applied yet
Applications remain open. You can send yours from releases.wisecp.com/wisecp/5.0-beta.1; a Developer license is not required. The field asking what you want to test is the part we look at most closely.
We are still working towards the general release of V5, and we will announce it separately when the day comes.
