V5 Beta 2 is out: in-place upgrade from 3.x and five new languages

The second V5 beta round: an in-place upgrade wizard from 3.x to 5.0, five new language packs, new payment and accounting integrations and over fifty fixes.

Today we released 5.0-beta.2, the second beta round of V5. Most of this round was shaped by reports from the first beta: more than fifty issues reported during that round are now fixed. Thank you to everyone who reported a problem, sent a screenshot or wrote down the steps to reproduce it.

Your 3.x installation upgrades in place

The most awaited part of this round is the upgrade wizard that takes an existing 3.x installation to 5.0 in place. It first checks your server and installation and verifies your license, then walks you through the upgrade step by step, in nine languages. The install and upgrade wizards were redesigned as well: a shared layout, steps you can move through with the keyboard, and a flow that opens straight on the first step.

Try the upgrade on a copy first. The beta is an evaluation release, so we recommend running it on a copy of your 3.x files and database. If you upgrade your live system, take a full backup beforehand. The steps are described in Upgrading from WISECP 3.x to 5.x.

Five new languages

Spanish, Italian, Brazilian Portuguese, Dutch and Russian arrive with this round. The interface, website themes and notification templates are ready in these languages, and the packs come enabled. The German and French notification templates are now fully translated too: subject lines, email and SMS bodies used to stay in English.

New integrations

The Lexware Office addon sends your invoices to Lexware Office automatically, either as a draft or finalized. The Lexware number and the official PDF are attached to the invoice, and the sending status and a retry button sit on the invoice card. On the payment side, the Flutterwave module arrives with a hosted payment page, and the older RavePay module is marked as legacy. In Standard SMTP you can now choose the authentication method (Automatic, PLAIN, LOGIN, CRAM-MD5), and the connection test tells you which one was used. The METUnic module also shows your credit balance on its settings page.

What you will notice day to day

Clicking a row in the notification bell now opens the related record; you can clear rows one by one or all at once, and the bell covers the last 30 days. Site Colors now apply to the website theme as well. Manrope is the new default typeface of the WStyle and Basic themes, and new installations ship the WStyle home page slider with three starter slides, their images and video. The health check scans the whole product tree for folders it cannot write to and reports them daily. AI Assistant fetches model lists straight from each provider with your API key, and the new Refresh Models button updates the list whenever you want.

Notable fixes

On MySQL 8 servers, a fresh installation, the admin home page after sign-in, service cancellation and suspension and a few other flows failed; this round makes them MySQL 8 compatible. Also fixed: installations that run cron hourly were treated as restored from a backup on every run, 3-D payments were declined on Garanti Virtual POS, country restrictions of payment methods were not applied at checkout, and a single unreadable file brought down a whole backup.

For developers

Modules can add their own badges to a client record (filter:admin.client_badges); the badge appears in the client list, the info card and the client detail header. Product requirement options can be grouped into families with a version picker (for example Ubuntu → 22.04 / 24.04). The theme files changed in this round are in the comparison on GitHub.

Security

This round includes three security fixes; the details are in the release notes.

Updating and feedback

Your beta installation finds the update under Help → Updates in the admin panel; we recommend taking a file and database backup before you update. Every change in this round is listed in the release notes. You can send us the issues you run into with the Report a Bug button in the panel; a report can now carry files, links and your installation's own error records.

Not in the beta yet? You can apply with the "Request Beta Access" button on the release page.
